I come from a long line of local business men, migrating east from Cornwall. Service has always been in the forefront of our traits, whether that be through politics, military service or practicing law.
After education at Portsmouth Grammar School and Nottingham University I joined the Navy shortly before the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre in 2001, where upon my idea of travelling the world in a genteel manner was rudely awakened by the second Gulf War. After spending considerable time learning to dive I spent a sustained time in the Arabian Gulf clearing mine danger areas and ensuring the flow of oil and gas to the UK, to keep the lights on.
I spent sixteen years as a Naval Officer deployed or serving away from home. During that time life threw a succession of challenges at me, such as rebuilding my life and finances from divorce in 2005. This gave me enormous satisfaction and a good working knowledge of financial products, and of the fallout from separation. Experience of buy to let and extremely poor financial advice set me on course to want to provide what I desperately needed: honest, forthright and dependable service and advice.
I am committed to ensuring that my industry knowledge remains relevant and current by placing strong emphasis on my personal development. This, along with the pride and dedication that I place on developing solid personal relationships with my clients, ensures that am I able offer a rounded, professional and principled service.
I have recently worked on cases helping clients with buy-to-let concerns, inheritance planning and workplace pension planning. More broadly I am qualified to provide restricted advice in a wide variety of areas in investment planning, Pension Planning and protection.
I enjoy the challenge of problem-solving for the client. I am not from a sales background, and will put your interests above all else. Outside of my business, I strive to be part of the local Southsea community, through my role as a governor of a local primary school or raising money for local charities through sporting events.
Having served in the Royal Navy for 16 years I have signed The Armed Forces Covenant as part of a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. I work with businesses, local authorities, charities and community organisations to support the forces through services, policy and projects.
